Japanese Word Viewer: Cannot Open a File with a Name That Includes 0x5c in DBCS (241212)

SYMPTOMS

When a file name includes 0x??5c in DBCS after space, the Word Viewer cannot open the file, and you receive the following error message:
"The file name or path are not correct."
Do the next operation:
*Confirm that pass name is input correctly.
*Clicked [file] - [open] and please search file.
(' File pass' \a ?\.doc')
Note This problem occurs only in the Japanese Word Viewer.

CAUSE

The Word Viewer mishandles 0x5c in DBCS as '\'.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.

When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in Control Panel.
