COM Internet Services Causes Memory Leaks in IIS (241104)

SYMPTOMS

When an IIS server is configured for RPC Proxy and DCOM clients connect through this proxy to the DCOM server, a memory leak occurs in the Inetinfo process.

CAUSE

This problem occur because of a problem in the Rpcproxy.dll file. After Rpcproxy.dll finishes its processing, it does not notify IIS, causing the session connection to not terminate and creating the memory leak.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem.
