"Mspadmin.exe - Entry Point Not Found" Error Message with Proxy 2.0 Service Pack 1 (241054)

SYMPTOMS

When you initialize the Proxy services by rebooting the server after you apply Proxy Server 2.0 Service Pack 1 (SP1), you may receive the following error messages:
Mspadmin.exe - Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point ?CheckMatchingHlprDll@@YGXXZ could not be located in the dynamic link library Msphlpr.dll.
Wspsrv.exe - Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point ?CheckMatchingHlprDll@@YGXXZ could not be located in the dynamic link library Msphlpr.dll.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you do not remove the Evaluation copy of Proxy Server before installing the retail version.

These error messages have also been reported to occur if third-party dynamic-link libraries (DLLs) conflict with the loading of the Proxy filters.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue:
  1. Use the Add/Remove Programs tool in Control Panel to remove Proxy Server.
  2. Delete the remaining Proxy Server folder and the following files:

    Msphlpr.dll
    Msplog.dll
    Mspapi.dll
    Mspui.dll
    W3proxy.dll
    W3pcache.dll

  3. Install the retail version of the Proxy Server.
  4. Apply SP1.
