SUMMARY
When you install a Microsoft Access run-time application on a computer, you may be asked to restart the computer several times during the installation process.
MORE INFORMATION
The package built by the "Package and Deployment" Wizard uses the Microsoft Visual Basic version 6.0 Virtual Machine (VB6 VM) as its Setup engine. The VB6 VM is included with Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition, but it is not included with earlier versions of Microsoft Windows by default. The VB6 VM contains system files that need to be installed on the computer. If these files are newer than the current system files, you must restart the computer.
The "Package and Deployment" Wizard builds a generic package from which other packages can be installed. This was done to increase flexibility. It allows you to add any package that you need to the "Package and Deployment" Wizard package. Examples of other packages that you can include are the Microsoft Data Engine (MSDE) and an Access run-time application. These Setup packages can also install system files that require you to restart the computer. For example, an Access run-time application includes many system files and requires that you restart the computer. You may also experience this behavior when you install the full retail version of Microsoft Access 2000 or Microsoft Office 2000.
