ACC2000: Starting Hyperlink from Access Minimizes Access Session (240962)

This article applies to a Microsoft Access database (.mdb) and to a Microsoft Access project (.adp).

SYMPTOMS

When you start the Internet browser by clicking a hyperlink in Microsoft Access, the Microsoft Access window is minimized.

RESOLUTION

When you close the browser, note that the Access icon is on the Windows task bar. Click the icon once to restore the Access window.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

  1. In a blank database, create a new table.
  2. In Design view of the table, add a field with a Hyperlink data type.
  3. Switch to Datasheet view.
  4. Type the following data in the Hyperlink field of the first record:

    http://www.microsoft.com

  5. Press ENTER to commit the record.
  6. Click the hyperlink that is created to start the Internet browser.
  7. After viewing the page, close the browser.
Note that the Access window has disappeared. You must click the Access icon on the task bar to restore the Access window.
