Web Pages with ActiveX Controls Are Not Displayed Properly (240897)

When you view a Web site that contains an ActiveX control, you may experience any of the following symptoms:
- You are not prompted to download and install the control.
- A red X is displayed where the control should appear.
- You receive script errors stating "Object required" or "Name is not an object."
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if you do not have permission to write to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE registry hive or the Downloaded Program Files folder on your computer.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, contact your network administrator to obtain the appropriate permissions for downloading ActiveX controls.
STATUS
This behavior is by design.
