OL98: (CW) Radio Buttons Missing Accessing the Outlook Address Book from Word (240841)

NOTE: The procedures in this article only apply if you have installed Outlook with the Corporate or Workgroup option. SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to access addresses from the Contacts folder using the Insert Address Book command in Microsoft Word, you find that the option buttons for Mailing, Home, and other address types are missing.

CAUSE

A key file used in the Address Book conversion, Schdmapi.dll is either missing or damaged.

RESOLUTION

Install or replace the Schdmapi.dll file.

  1. On the Start menu, click Find, and then click Files or Folders.
  2. In the Named box, type Schdmapi.dll.
  3. In the Look In list, click to select My Computer, and then click Find Now.
  4. In the search results list, right-click Schdmapi.dll, if it exists, and then click Rename on the shortcut menu.
  5. Change the file name extension to old.
  6. On the Start menu, click Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  7. Double-click Add Remove Programs, and on the Install/Uninstall tab, click Microsoft Outlook 98. Click Add/Remove.
  8. In the Outlook 98 Active Setup dialog box, Click Rerun Outlook 98 Setup.
Active Setup will replace any files not found.
