Error When Adding Stream Format from UNC Network Share (240800)

SYMPTOMS

When adding a stream format to a multicast station in the Windows Media Administrator, you get the following error when putting in a path to a remote server:
Stream formats not imported. Either the stream formats in this file have already been imported to this Station or the file has no stream formats within it.
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Windows Media Services version 4.0.

WORKAROUND

The workaround is to bring up a directory listing first by typing \\<server>\<share> in the Add Stream Format dialog box, pressing the ENTER key, and then selecting the file.

MORE INFORMATION

This problem does not occur when pointing to files on the local file system.
