PRB: FAKEIME Sample Needs Additional Information to Install (240693)


The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

The FAKEIME sample in the Windows NT 4.0 DDK does not install properly "as is." The sample requires some additional information in order to install properly.

RESOLUTION

To install the Fakeimeu.ime file, which is built from the FAKEIME sample, do the following:
  1. Place the Fakeime.dic, Defroma.txt, and Fakeimeu.ime files in the same directory.
  2. Create the Fakeimeu.inf file from the lines in the "More Information" section of this article.
  3. In Explorer, right-click Fakeimeu.inf, and then select the Install option.
  4. From Control Panel, double-click the Keyboard icon, click the Language tab, add a Japanese keyboard layout, and then select FakeIME40 Unicode Edition when the second dialog box is displayed.
