  • Microsoft Outlook 98

This article was previously published under Q240680

SYMPTOMS

When a user opens an e-mail message that contains embedded Lotus Notes document links on a computer where the Lotus Notes client is not installed, the following error message appears:
An OLE registration error occurred. The program is not correctly installed. Run Setup again for the program.
After the users clicks the OK button, the message is not displayed.

CAUSE

When Outlook attempts to locate the Object Linking and Embedding (OLE) server for the embedded documents, it can't find it because the OLE server is not registered. This error causes Outlook to be unable to open the message.
