Money: Error Message: You Must Enter Both the Price and Quantity (240468)

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to change a Vest transaction to an Exercise transaction in a Stock Option investment account in one of the programs listed at the beginning of this article, you may receive the following error message:
You must enter both the Price and Quantity.
You may receive this error message even if you entered values in both the Price and Quantity fields.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, enter a New Exercise transaction. To do this, use the appropriate method for your version of Microsoft Money.

Microsoft Money 2000 and Microsoft Money 2001

  1. On the Money navigation bar, click Investing.

    In Money 2001, click Investing, and then click Investing Center.
  2. Under Manage your investments and savings, click Accounts.
  3. Click your Stock Option investment account.
  4. Click Investment Transactions.
  5. Click New.
  6. In the Investment box, click the appropriate investment.
  7. In the Activity box, click Exercise.
  8. Enter the appropriate values in the Price and Quantity boxes.
  9. Click Enter.

Microsoft Money 99

  1. On the Money navigation bar, click Accounts.
  2. Double-click your Stock Option account.
  3. In the Account Register, click New.
  4. In the Investment box, click the appropriate investment.
  5. In the Activity box, click Exercise.
  6. Enter the appropriate values in the Price and Quantity boxes.
  7. Click Enter.
