PRB: Show/Hide Console Tree Toolbar Button Is Disabled in Component Services If You Use the Customize Menu to Toggle Console Tree (240336)

SYMPTOMS

In COM+ Services Explorer, if you click Customize on the View menu to toggle Console Tree view off, the "Show/Hide Console Tree/Favorites" toolbar button is disabled. Toggling Console Tree view on from the menu does not re-enable this toolbar button.

NOTE: This behavior does not occur when using Microsoft Management Console (MMC) in Author mode.

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, toggle the Console Tree view on (click the View menu, and then select View \ Customize), close Component Services, and then restart Component Services Explorer.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

Steps to Reproduce this Behavior:

  1. Start Component Services. On the Start menu, point to Programs, Administrative Tools, and then click Component Services.
  2. Click the View menu, and then select View \ Customize. This action starts the Customize View dialog box.
  3. Clear the Console tree check box. Click OK.
  4. This action disables the "Show/Hide Console Tree/Favorites" toolbar button. This button is not re-enabled even when you click to select the Console Tree check box (by using the View \ Customize menu).
