PPT2000: PowerPoint Viewer Doesn't Run Presentation Automatically (240125)

SYMPTOMS

When you create a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation using the Pack and Go feature, and then unpack the presentation on another computer, the presentation may not start automatically after unpacking. The presentation unpacks itself into the folder that you have specified, but then the Pack and Go setup program closes without prompting you to run the slide show.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, follow these steps:
  1. Using Windows Explorer, browse to the folder that contains the unpacked presentation.
  2. Double-click the Ppview32.exe file to start the PowerPoint viewer.
  3. Browse to and select the presentation, and then click Show.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
