Disable Virus Protection
---------------------------------------------------------
Some virus protection programs can interfere with the
Microsoft Vizact 2000 Setup program. If you use a virus
protection program on your computer, please disable it
before running Setup. You can re-enable the virus
protection program after Setup is complete.
Note: If your virus-detection program starts
automatically when you start Windows, you may be able to
disable it by restarting Windows while holding down the
SHIFT key. For details consult your virus-detection
program's documentation.
Minimum System Requirements

* Operating System: Microsoft Windows 95 or later

operating system version 4.0 Service Pack 3 or later
and Windows 2000 final version.
* Internet Explorer 5.0: Vizact requires the released

activated pages. If you do not have Internet Explorer
5.0, the CD setup will install it automatically for
you. When installing from the Internet, the installer
will prompt you to install it.

minimum. 32 MB recommended.

Super VGA recommended.

Installing Without Removing the Preview Build
---------------------------------------------------------
Vizact 2000 may not be able to successfully install all
of its components if a Preview build of Vizact 2000 is
still installed.
To uninstall an existing Vizact 2000 Preview build,
click Start, then select Settings --> Control Panel,
then select Add/Remove Programs.
Select Microsoft Vizact 2000, then remove the program.
Installation Instructions
---------------------------------------------------------
* From CD: Insert the Vizact 2000 CD into the CD drive.
If the installation program does not start up
automatically, on your desktop double--click
"My Computer", then double-click the CD icon to start
the installation program.
* From the Internet: If you download and install Vizact
without first successfully installing Internet Explorer
5.0, you will receive a warning when you attempt to run
Vizact. The dialog box states: "One or more components
required to run Vizact are not properly installed.
Please reinstall Vizact to correct this problem." To
correct this error, Install Internet Explorer 5.0 first,
then reinstall Vizact before using it.
On the Internet, Internet Explorer 5.0 can be installed
from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/. When
installing, it is necessary that you select the checkbox
options "Internet Explorer 5 Web Browser" and "Microsoft
Virtual Machine".

mode. Select Repair Microsoft Vizact 2000. Then select
the Repair errors option. If desired, check the option to
"Restore my Shortcuts".
Exception Error During Install of Vizact 2000
---------------------------------------------------------
You may receive an error message similar to the following
during Vizact 2000 setup:
Exception error in IE5WZD in module MSJAVA.DLL
This behavior can occur if the Microsoft Java Virtual
Machine (VM) on your system is damaged.
To resolve this issue:
1. Click Start, then select Programs, then Windows
Explorer.
2. Double-click the Windows folder, and then double-click
the Downloaded Program Files folder.
3. Remove the DirectAnimation Java Classes file.
To do so, click the file, and then on the File menu,
select Remove Program File.
4. Repeat Step 3 to remove the following files in the
Downloaded Program Files folder, and then restart
your computer:
* Internet Explorer Classes for Java
* Microsoft XML Parser For Java
* Win32 Classes
5. Re-run the Vizact 2000 Setup. If setup launches in
maintenance mode, run the Repair option (see the topic
on Repairing Vizact 2000 installations).
This solution should allow you to complete the setup
correctly.
---------------------------------------------------------
2. GENERAL ISSUES
---------------------------------------------------------
This section includes the following topics:
* Editing files created using the
Preview versions of Vizact
* Timeline does not draw correctly with
some ATI Rage video cards
* Display color settings
* Editing activated pages in other Office Applications
*Discrepancies in the print guide:
"Getting Started with Microsoft Vizact 2000"
Editing files created using the
Preview versions of Vizact
---------------------------------------------------------
Interactive Bullets, Horizontal Menu, Vertical Menu, and
Picture Show components authored in earlier versions of
Vizact are not editable with the final release. It may
be necessary to re-add these components to your pages
using this release.
Timeline does not draw correctly with
some ATI Rage video cards
---------------------------------------------------------
If your system uses an ATI Rage video card, Vizact may
periodically not re-draw the numbers on the Timeline or
the line which separates the scrolling region.
To solve this problem, install the latest drivers for the
video card. ATI's Technical Support web site provides the
latest drivers for download: http://support.atitech.ca/.
Display color settings
---------------------------------------------------------
Changing Display color setting or appearance scheme may
cause Vizact to lock up or become unstable.
To prevent this from happening, save your work and close
down Vizact before making changes to your display
settings. Once the changes have been made, restart
Vizact.
Editing activated pages in other Office Applications
---------------------------------------------------------
In some cases, when Office 2000 documents which have been
activated in Vizact are once again edited and modified in
the original Office 2000 application which created it,
some of the activated content may stop functioning
correctly.
To prevent this from happening, use Vizact to edit the
activated portions of the document. When it's necessary
to edit these portions of the documents in the original
Office 2000 application, keep changes to those portions
of the document to a minimum.
Discrepancies in the print guide:
"Getting Started with Microsoft Vizact 2000"
---------------------------------------------------------
This section relates to the print guide provided with the
boxed version of Vizact 2000. Minor changes were made
to the Vizact user interface after this guide went to
print. As such, the guide contains a few inaccuracies:
-Chapter Two, section on "What Can You Add to a Page?"
mentions predesigned "Buttons". These are not included
in this version of Vizact.
-Chapter Four, section on "Interactive Bullets". Process
for adding and editing bullets has changed from the
method described here.
-Tutorial, some processes have changed.
Vizact Help includes an up-to-date version of this
tutorial.
