MORE INFORMATION
In Office 2000 Academic edition and Office 2000 SR-1,
Microsoft includes the new Registration Wizard, an easy-to-use technology that
automates customer registration. There is a limitation of two registrations per
media, consistent with the terms of the End User License Agreement. This
affects Academic Open License customers, Open License Customers, Enterprise
Agreement customers, and Select customers who install from retail or
fulfillment media.
Using the Open Product Key or Select Product Key
Open License customers need to acquire an Open Product Key to
facilitate multiple installations from retail or fulfillment media. Select
customers need to acquire a Select Product Key. During installation of
Microsoft Office 2000 or an individual Office 2000 program, you are prompted
for a 25-character Product Key. Instead of using the Product Key located on the
retail or fulfillment CD jewel case, you must use the Open Product Key or the
Select Product Key. These Product Keys facilitate multiple installations from a
single retail or fulfillment CD.
WARNING: If you do not use the Open Product Key or Select Product Key,
you are required to register. The third and subsequent registrations will fail.
Obtaining Open Product Keys
Existing Open License customers can obtain their Open Product Key
by contacting the Microsoft Registration Center for their region, or by
accessing the eOpen License Web site (
https://eopen.microsoft.com).
All licenses purchased prior to Feb. 1, 1998, will not be listed on the eOpen
license Web site, and instead you must refer to the blue certificate that
Microsoft mailed to you at the time of purchase.
The phone number
for the Registration Center is provided with the letter.
NOTE: Contact your Microsoft reseller if you do not know how to access
your information on the eOpen License Web site.
New Open License
customers will receive their Open Product Keys with their Open License
Agreement data, which is stored on the eOpen License Web site. The Open Product
Key appears next to the Office 2000 family stock-keeping unit (SKU) purchased
on the License Agreement.
To obtain their Open Product Key or Select
Product Key, Academic Open License customers must provide the following:
- Open License Authorization Number
- Open License Agreement Number
- The product and quantity they have licensed
NOTE: If you lose the Authorization Number, License Agreement Number,
stock-keeping unit (SKU), and quantity, you must contact the reseller for this
information. Microsoft Technical Support cannot assist you until you have this
information.
MSDN Volume Licenses
The following Web site is for licenses that contain Microsoft
Developer Network (MSDN) products:
If your license does not have an MSDN product, you will not be

customers only.

License documentation, they can connect to the following Web site to view their
Open Product Key:

stock-keeping unit (SKU), and quantity, you must contact the reseller for this
information. Microsoft Technical Support cannot assist you until you have this

Number, you must contact your System Administrator or License Administrator.
