SYMPTOMS

Microsoft Office 97 documents that contain bookmarks for jumping from one section to another do not function when you view them by using in-place editing with Internet Explorer 5.

CAUSE

Internet Explorer 5 has changed the way it handles bookmarks.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem.
