OFF2000: Date in Office Document Embedded in Lotus Notes Form Changes by 100 Years (239871)

SYMPTOMS

When you open a Microsoft Excel worksheet or a Microsoft Word document that has been embedded in a Lotus Notes document, one or more dates are changed; 100 years are added to some of the dates in your document.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when the following conditions are true:

You have inserted a Microsoft Word document or a Microsoft Excel worksheet in a Lotus Notes form.

-and-
The Word document or Excel worksheet contains dates earlier than 1950.

-and-
You have created a custom document property that links to the date(s).

-and-
The Short date style setting on the Date tab of the Regional Settings icon (in Control Panel) is set to display two digits for year values.

WORKAROUND

To work around the problem, change the Short date style setting on the Date tab of the Regional Settings icon (in Control Panel) to a format that displays four digits for year values.

NOTE: Changing the Short date style setting only prevents this problem from occurring in the future. Changing this setting does not repair any date values that have already been affected by this problem.
