The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft ActiveSync
- Microsoft ActiveSync 3.5
- Microsoft ActiveSync 3.0
This article was previously published under Q239851 SYMPTOMS When you attempt to synchronize a Microsoft Pocket Word
document between a Windows CE-based device and a desktop computer, you may
receive the following error message: Error converting
file. Cannot convert file 'Filename'. The file
converter could not read the required data from the disk.
The file
'Filename' cannot be synchronized with your mobile
device. Ensure the file is not in use on either your mobile device or this
computer, and that there is sufficient memory on your mobile device to store
the file. Then, synchronize again. Clicking OK causes the same error message to be displayed a second time.
After this error message occurs, you cannot delete the Word document
from the Synchronized Files folder until you restart the computer. The
following error message occurs when you attempt to delete the Word document
from the Synchronized Files folder: Error Deleting
File
Can not delete 'Filename': Access is
denied.
Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that
the file is not currently in use. This error message occurs both
when you try to synchronize by using the Synchronized Files folder or when you
try to convert a file received as an attachment in e-mail. CAUSE The conversion utility is unable to properly convert the
document. WORKAROUND The document must be re-created. To delete the Word
document from the Synchronized Files folder, restart the desktop computer. Or,
press CTRL+ALT+DELETE, end the Wcescomm.exe task, and then delete the file.
