Publisher 2000 and Publisher 2002 render only composite RGB color and not CMYK (239809)

SUMMARY

Microsoft Publisher 2000 and Microsoft Publisher 2002 can only render composite RGB (Red-Green-Blue) color for PostScript and EPS (Encapsulated PostScript) graphics files. Even if you set the color printing option to Process Color (CMYK), this does not enable Publisher to render composite CMYK (Cyan-Magenta-Yellow-Black) color.

This behavior does not occur in Microsoft Office Publisher 2003.

MORE INFORMATION

Publisher renders PostScript graphic files by using the Microsoft Windows GDI. Because the Windows GDI (Graphics Device Interface) only supports RGB color, Publisher cannot render CMYK color.

Programs that render CMYK composite color do so by generating their own PostScript code. Publisher can only render CMYK output as individual color separations, not as composite CMYK color.
