WD2000: Page Fault in Mso9.dll After Playing Embedded MIDI File (239790)

SYMPTOMS

After you play a MIDI file in Word, stop the player, and close your Word document, the following error message may appear:
WINWORD caused an invalid page fault in module MSO9.DLL at 015f:308cfad5.

CAUSE

This is a problem with the Media Player that was installed with Microsoft Windows 98 and Microsoft Windows NT 4.0.

RESOLUTION

To correct this problem, install the new Media Player version 6.4 located at the following Web address:

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Mplayer.exe.

To determine the version of Media Player you have installed, follow these steps:
  1. On the Windows Start menu, point to Find and then click Files or Folders.
  2. On the Name & Location tab, in the Named box, type mplayer*.exe and click Find Now.
  3. Right-click the Mplayer file and then click Properties on the shortcut menu that appears.
  4. Click to select the Version tab.
