SYMPTOMS

Your computer may stop responding under any of the following conditions:
  • You resume your computer from suspend.
  • Your computer has excessive disk activity.
  • Your computer has a low memory situation.
NOTE: It is more likely that you are experiencing the problem that is described in this article if you receive the following error message:
Your system is low on Virtual Memory. Windows is increasing the size of your virtual memory paging file. During this process, memory requests for some applications may be denied. For more information, see Help.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.
