You can install either of the following joystick drivers on a Microsoft Windows NT 4.0-based computer:

  • Microsoft SideWinder 3D Pro Joystick

  • Microsoft SideWinder Standard or another analog joystick

Microsoft SideWinder 3D Pro Joystick

To install the driver for the Microsoft SideWinder 3D Pro joystick:

  1. Insert the Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 CD-ROM into your CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive. Press and hold down the SHIFT key to prevent the Windows NT CD-ROM from starting automatically.
  2. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  3. Double-click Multimedia.
  4. On the Devices tab, click Add.
  5. Click Microsoft SideWinder 3D Pro Joystick, and then click OK.
  6. Close Control Panel, and then restart the computer.

Microsoft SideWinder Standard or Analog Joystick

To install the driver for the Microsoft SideWinder Standard or another analog joystick:

  1. Insert the Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 CD-ROM into your CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive. Press and hold down the SHIFT key to prevent the Windows NT CD-ROM from starting automatically.
  2. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  3. Double-click Multimedia.
  4. On the Devices tab, click Add.
  5. Click Unlisted or Updated Driver, and then click OK.
  6. In the Install Driver box, type the following line, and then click OK

    drive:\drvlib\multimed\joystick\x86

    where drive is the drive letter of your CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive.
  7. Close Control Panel, and then restart the computer.
