SYMPTOMS

When you type into a table in a word processor document in Microsoft Works 2000, the table may appear to flash each time you press a key.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the following conditions are true:
  • The table contains two or more columns.
  • You format the table with a thick outline border in the following manner:

    1. On the Format menu, click Borders and Shading.
    2. Under Use the buttons below to apply a single border style to the paragraph, click the Outline button.
    3. Under Line Style, click the thickest line style, and then click OK.
  • You insert a row into the table, and then type within that row in the following manner:

    1. On the Table menu, click Insert Row, and then click Before Current Row.
    2. Type anywhere in the inserted row.

RESOLUTION

To prevent this issue from occurring, disable the Autosize Cell Height option before you insert a row into the table. To do this:
  1. On the Table menu, click Cell Height and Width.
  2. Click to clear the Autosize Cell Height check box.
  3. Click OK.

STATUS
