Works 2000: Shaded Backgrounds Are Displayed Differently in Excel (239347)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Works 2000
  • Microsoft Works Suite 2000

This article was previously published under Q239347

SYMPTOMS

When you create a Microsoft Works 2000 Spreadsheet document and you save it as a Microsoft Excel document and then open it in Excel, some shading may have changed color and some of the text may be difficult to read.

Additionally, some patterns may appear grainy and some pixels may appear with incorrect colors.

NOTE: The miscolored pixels do not appear on every computer and may be corrected by scrolling or otherwise refreshing the screen.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur because not all of the the Works 2000 Spreadsheet shading patterns are exact matches with the Excel shading patterns.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, you can change the shading patterns to a pattern more similar to those in the Works 2000 Spreadsheet document after the document has been opened in Excel. To change shading patterns in Excel, click the Patterns tab (click Cells on the Format menu), and then select the shading pattern and color that you want.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
