SYMPTOMS

When you open a Microsoft Word 2000 document that contains a table in the Microsoft Works 2000 Word Processor, part of the table may be missing.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the table is too long to fit on one page.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, separate the table into two or more tables, which each fit on one page, or change the paper size.

Separate the Table into Two or More Tables

To separate the table into two or more tables:
  1. Start the Works 2000 Word Processor.
  2. On the File menu, click Open.
  3. Click the document that you want, and then click Open.
  4. Click to place the insertion point next to the lowest visible row in the table.
  5. Press CTRL+ENTER to create a page break.

The missing part of the table is now visible on the next page of the document. If the table is longer than two pages, repeat steps 4 and 5 until the entire table is visible.

Change the Paper Size

NOTE: This workaround is useful if you are saving the document as a Word 2000 document or you are not printing the document from the Works 2000 Word Processor.

To change the paper size:
  1. Start the Works 2000 Word Processor.
  2. On the File menu, click Open.
  3. Click the document that you want, and then click Open.
  4. On the File menu, click Page Setup.
  5. On the Source, Size & Orientation tab, click Custom in the Size box.
  6. In the Height box, type a length that is long enough to contain the entire table, and then click OK.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Works 2000.
