This article was previously published under Q239304 SYMPTOMS
When you use mail merge as information in a footnote in a Works 2000 Word Processor document, and you then print the merge results to a new document, one of the following symptoms may appear:
- If you view the merge results when you attempt to print the merge result to a new document, and you leave the View Results control open, the new document expands to include one document for each mail merge record, but only the data from the first record is displayed in each footnote.
Any mail merge data in the main body of the document appears as expected. - If you do not click View Results, or you close the View Results control before you attempt to print the merge result to a new document, the new document expands to include one document for each mail merge record, but only the field name appears in each footnote.
Any mail merge data in the main body of the document appears as expected.
RESOLUTION
To work around this issue, manually enter the data that you want into the footnote of each document, after you print the merge results to a new document.
TIP: A fast way to do this is to merge the data records that you want into the main body of the document, and then after you print the merge results to a new document, add the footnote and use the Cut and Paste commands on the Edit menu to move the merge records into the footnote.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Works 2000.
