Works 2000 Error Message: Setup Is Unable to Register Tasks (239285)

When you attempt to uninstall Microsoft Works 2000, you may receive the following error message:
Setup is unable to register tasks.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if the Microsoft Works folder is missing.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, reinstall Works 2000, and then uninstall Works 2000. To do this, use the following methods in the order in which they are presented.

To reinstall Works 2000:
- Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
- Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
- Click the Install/Uninstall tab.
- Click Microsoft Works 2000, and then click Add/Remove.
- Click Next.
- Click Reinstall, and then click Next.
- Follow the instructions on the screen to reinstall Works 2000.
Uninstall Works 2000
To uninstall Works 2000:
- Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
- Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
- Click the Install/Uninstall tab.
- Click Microsoft Works 2000, and then click Add/Remove.
- Click Next.
- Click Remove, and then click Next.
- Follow the instructions on the screen to uninstall Works 2000.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Works 2000.
