This article was previously published under Q239280 SYMPTOMS
When you open a Microsoft Word 2000 document in Microsoft Works 2000 Word Processor, and the Word 2000 document contains a JPEG image, the image quality may appear visibly degraded, with the image looking grainy.
The image degradation is much more apparent in black-and-white images than in color images.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur because a JPEG image in a Word document is converted twice when it is imported into Works 2000. The second conversion process causes noticeable degradation of the image quality.
RESOLUTION
To work around this issue and improve the quality of the image in the imported Word document, you can re-insert the image in the imported document using the original image (if it is available).
To re-insert an image, follow these steps:
- Click the image that you want to replace.
- On the Insert menu, point to Picture, and then click From File.
- Browse to find the picture that you want, and then click Open.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Works 2000.
