SYMPTOMS

In Works 2000 Word Processor, when you click Find or Replace on the Edit menu, and you enter some text in the Find what box, the text disappears if you click another tab in the Find and Replace dialog box.

If you start on the Find tab, and enter text in the Find what box, and then click the Replace tab, the text does not appear in the Find what box of the Replace tab.

If you start on the Find tab or the Replace tab, and enter text in the Find what box, and then click the Go to tab, and then return to the tab where you started, the text has disappeared from the Find what box.

If you start on the Replace tab, and enter text in the Find what box, and then click the Find tab, the text does not appear in the Find what box of the Find tab.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur because the Find and Replace dialog box does not retain any text that is entered until either a find or a replace action takes place.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, click Find Next on either the Find or the Replace tab to preserve the text in the Find what box.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Works 2000.
