Works 2000: "Invalid Date" Error Message When You Paste Data (239168)

SYMPTOMS

When you paste data from a date field in a Microsoft Works 2000 database into another Works 2000 database, the following message may appear in the corresponding field in the target database.
Invalid Date

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the following conditions are true:
  • One or more new fields are created when you paste the data into the target database.
  • Data from the date field in the source database is pasted into a newly created field.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, format the newly created field in the target database in which the "Invalid Date" message appears as a date field.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

When you paste data into a Works 2000 database, any new fields that are created are formatted as general fields.
