This article was previously published under Q238496
SUMMARY
DISK SPACE REQUIREMENTS
The setup requires approximately 350 MB of hard disk space. The Network Server Setup installs all of the content files and client setup files.
INSTALLING ODBC DRIVERS AND SQL COMPONENTS- In order for the Administrator Tool to operate, setup needs to install current ODBC drivers. When the driver installation is complete, restart your computer.
- If you are setting up Microsoft Press Interactive
Training using a SQL database, run the SQL Database setup program that sets up the MPI Training database.
- If ODBC components were installed and the system was restarted, run the SQL Database Setup manually. This can be found in:
(default path: c:\program files\mspress\mpitraining\admin\SQL\setup\setup.exe) - If not, this program can be launched from the final MPI Training Setup dialog.
SHARING THE CLIENT FOLDERS
The steps below apply to all platforms and protocols and must be performed before Microsoft Press Interactive Training will operate in a
networked environment.
- In Windows Explorer, locate the folder in which the Microsoft Press Interactive Training product was installed (e.g. C:\Program Files\MSPress\MPITraining).
- Configure the MPITraining folder with read/write permissions.
- Client computers can navigate to setup files by using the following path:
(Machine Name)\MPITraining\mcse\setup.exe.
LOGGING INTO THE ADMINISTRATION CONSOLE- The default username is Admin and there is no default password (leave it blank).
- Once you are logged in, you can change the username and password by creating a new administrator on the Users tab.
SETTING UP A BASE SYLLABUS
The steps below for setting up the syllabus are for a network installation only. To work with a course in the Administration Console, you must first add the base syllabus for that course to the Administration Console. Follow the steps below to do so:
- Click File and then click Add Base Syllabus.
- Right-click the folder containing the desired Table of Contents (.toc) file (e.g. C:\inetpub\wwwroot\mpitraining\toc) and then click Open. This will import the Base Syllabus.
