PPT2000: Pulse Template Does Not Animate Like Earlier Versions (238095)

SYMPTOMS

The Pulse template (Pulse.pot) in Microsoft PowerPoint 2000 does not animate like the Pulse template in earlier versions of PowerPoint.

CAUSE

Due to changes in designs and customer feedback, this current template is designed not to animate. See the "More Information" section later in this article to provide feedback about this design change.

WORKAROUND

To animate the Pulse template, use either of the following methods.

Method 1: Import the Template from the Earlier Version

  1. Insert the original Microsoft PowerPoint 97 compact disc into your CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive while holding down SHIFT to bypass the Autorun feature.
  2. On the Start menu, point to Find, and click Files or Folders.
  3. In the Named box, type Pulse.pot, and select your CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive in the Look in list. Click Find Now.
  4. After finding the file, click Copy on the Edit menu.
  5. Open Windows Explorer and browse to the following folder:

    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Templates\Presentation Designs

  6. In Windows Explorer, click Paste on the Edit menu.

Method 2: Ungrouping Objects on the Slide and Title Masters

  1. On the File menu, click Open. Select the Pulse.pot file located in the following folder:

    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Templates\Presentation Designs

  2. On the View menu, point to Master and click Slide Master.
  3. On the Edit menu, click Select All.
  4. On the Drawing toolbar, click Draw and then click Ungroup.

    NOTE: If the Drawing toolbar is not visible, point to Toolbars on the View menu, and click Drawing.
  5. On the View menu, point to Master and click Title Master.
  6. Repeat steps 3 and 4 again for the title master.
NOTE: The Custom Animation settings for this object are preset to animate after you ungroup the slide and title masters.
