SUMMARY

When you insert your Office 2000 CD, an AutoRun process (dictated by AutoRun.inf) checks your computer to see whether certain files are already installed and to verify whether they are the appropriate version. If these files are missing or their version is earlier than what is expected, the AutoRun process installs the requisite files.

To prevent the AutoRun process from occurring, press and hold the SHIFT key when you insert a CD.

NOTE: The AutoRun process is not initiated when you insert your CD if Office 2000 has already been installed on your computer.
