This article describes the steps required to manually configure a BackOffice Server-based computer running Proxy 1.0 or Proxy 2.0 to use a static connection to the Internet. After you complete the following steps accurately, the BackOffice Server-based computer uses Microsoft Proxy Server and the dedicated Internet connection to provide Internet access to client computers on your internal network. Note that the following information or conditions must exist to use the steps in this article:
- BackOffice 4.0 or 4.5 with Proxy 1.0 or 2.0 is already installed or SBS 4.0, 4.0a, 4.5 with Proxy 1.0 or Proxy 2.0 is already installed.
- There are two network adapters installed in the server.
- The 10.0.0.X Internet Protocol (IP) addressing scheme will be used on the internal network.
- You have the following information from your Internet Service Provider (ISP):
- IP Address
- Subnet Mask
- Default Gateway
- Primary DNS Server IP address
- Secondary DNS IP Address (optional)
- DNS Suffix Search Order (optional)
