XADM: ADC Object Duplicated When Object Matching Rule Is Set One Way in a Two-Way Connection Agreement (237760)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server
- Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5
This article was previously published under Q237760 SUMMARY
When you create an Active Directory Connector (ADC) Connection Agreement between Microsoft Windows 2000 and Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5, duplicate objects may be created in the Exchange Server 5.5 directory.
MORE INFORMATION
The ADC replicates objects from the Exchange Server 5.5 directory to Windows 2000 Active Directory and from Windows 2000 Active Directory to the Exchange Server 5.5 directory.
The ADC Connection Agreement is configured to match the MailNickName attribute to the SamAccount attribute in both directions. The configuration settings can be found on the From Exchange and From Windows tabs of the Active Directory Connector Management Properties dialog box. This is because the ADC replicates from Windows 2000 to Exchange first; therefore, the matching rule is not in effect.
You can avoid the creation of duplicate objects in the Exchange Server 5.5 directory by creating a corresponding matching rule on the From Windows tab to match the SamAccount name to MailNickName.
