SUMMARY

If a NetBIOS session is opened between two programs and the SEND.NO.ACK or CHAIN.SEND.NO.ACK bits are set to true in a DATA_ONLY_LAST frame sent to a remote Windows 2000 client, the receiving client sends a DATA_ACK frame in response.

MORE INFORMATION

A DATA_ONLY_LAST frame with the bits mentioned above set to true should not result in a DATA_ACK frame being sent. This response occurs in Windows 2000 to accommodate older NetBIOS clients such as IBM OS/2 2.1. This behavior causes no problems; the server that sent the packet simply drops the acknowledgment.
