VIZACT: Clicking a Hyperlink Stops Page Interactivity and Timing (237664)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Vizact 2000

This article was previously published under Q237664

SYMPTOMS

When a user views a page in the browser and clicks a hyperlink, the interactivity and timing of the page stop.

CAUSE

As soon as a user clicks a hyperlink on a page, all interactivity and timing stop for the current page as the browser tries to load the page requested by the hyperlink. If timed content is not yet on the page when the user clicks the hyperlink, the user will not see the timed content.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, time your hyperlinks to appear after any important information has appeared on the screen.

MORE INFORMATION

When a user clicks the hyperlink, the Web browser stops the current page and tries to load the page requested by the hyperlink. If browsing to the new page is not successful for any reason and the current page remains active in the browser, the timing and interactivity for that page still do not continue.
