Bookshelf 99 Is Removed When You Remove Encarta Reference Suite 2000 (237523)

SYMPTOMS

When you remove Microsoft Encarta Reference Suite 2000 from your computer, Microsoft Bookshelf 99 is unexpectedly removed as well.

NOTE: Bookshelf 99 is not removed when you only remove Microsoft Encarta World English Dictionary 2000.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, reinstall Bookshelf 99:
  1. Insert the Microsoft Encarta Reference Suite 99 Installation and Resources CD-ROM into your CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive. Press and hold down the SHIFT key as you insert the CD-ROM to prevent Setup from starting automatically.
  2. Click Start, and then click Run.
  3. In the Open box, type the following line, and then click OK

    drive/Bshelf/Setup.exe

    where drive is the drive letter of the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive.
  4. Follow the instructions on the screen to reinstall Bookshelf 99.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
