XADM: Cannot Install Exchange System Manager When Logged On as a User (237405)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to install the Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server System Manager Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in when you are logged on as a user, Setup fails with the following error messages:
Access Denied:

RegSrv32.exe failed with <5> = Access denied

MORE INFORMATION

The installation of the Exchange System Manager extends the display specifiers in Active Directory.

NOTE: This is not the same as extending the schema.

When you install Exchange System Manager, you must be logged on with permissions to write to the Active Directory Configuration container.
