SideWinder 4.0: Game Controller Does Not Appear in Control Panel (237229)

SYMPTOMS

After you install version 4.0 of the Microsoft SideWinder Game Controller software, the SideWinder game controllers listed at the beginning of this article may not be listed when you open the Game Controllers tool in Control Panel.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you connect the device to the USB port on your computer, and then cancel device enumeration before you install the game controller software.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, disconnect the device from the USB port, and then reconnect it to the USB port.
