When you delete a message in Microsoft Call Manager, the message is not removed from your hard disk immediately. This article describes how to remove deleted Call Manager messages from your hard disk immediately.

To remove deleted Call Manager messages from your hard disk immediately:

  1. Quit Call Manager.
  2. Click Start, point to Programs, and then click Outlook Express.
  3. In the left pane, click the PLUS SIGN (+) next to Inbox to expand the branch.
  4. Under Inbox in the left pane, click to select the folder in which Call Manager stores your messages.
  5. On the File menu, point to Folder, and then click Compact.
  6. Restart Call Manager.
The Microsoft Cordless Phone System uses Microsoft Outlook Express to store messages. By default, Call Manager removes deleted messages from your hard disk at 2:00 A.M. every day if both of the following conditions are true:

  • Your computer is not running a different task.

  • Your computer has been running for at least 12 consecutive hours.
