- Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 for Windows 95
This article was previously published under Q236287 SYMPTOMS
When you are using Internet Explorer 5 through a proxy server that requires basic authentication, you may not be able to successfully complete a buying transaction using the "Set" capabilities of the Microsoft Wallet 3.0 component.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because the proxy server is set to require basic authentication. Wallet does not handle the "407" response from the proxy server and the transaction does not succeed.
RESOLUTION
Do not use basic authentication on the proxy server.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
