NOTE: The procedures in this article only apply if you have installed Outlook with the Corporate or Workgroup option. With this option, you can use Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) services. To determine your installation type, click About Microsoft Outlook on the Help menu. If you have the Corporate or Workgroup installation, you see "Corporate or Workgroup".

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to directly book a Microsoft Schedule+ resource you may receive the following error message:
Unable to directly book this meeting with a resource because Schedule+ is not properly installed on your machine. Would you like to send a meeting request instead?

CAUSE

You have not installed the Schedule+ support files on your computer.

RESOLUTION

Install the Schedule+ support files from your original Outlook installation source, or send a meeting request to the resource.

To Install the Schedule+ Support Files

  1. Quit Outlook. Click Start, point to Settings, and click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon in Control Panel.
  3. Click to select Microsoft Outlook 98 and then click Add/Remove.
  4. In the Maintenance Wizard dialog box, click Add New Components.
  5. Click Install from CD, or Install from Web, depending on your original installation source.
  6. Click Yes to allow setup to determine the installed components.
  7. Under Mail Components, click to select Schedule+ Support and then click Next and complete the installation.
  8. Restart your computer.

To Send a Meeting Request

  1. In the Calendar folder, on the Action menu, click New Meeting Request.
  2. On the Attendee Availability tab, click Invite Others, click to select the resource account from the address list, and click Resources.
  3. Add other attendees as required, and on the Appointment tab, complete the meeting information, and then click Send.
