CG5: Prompt for CD-ROM When You Insert Clips (235848)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Clip Gallery 5.0 for Windows
This article was previously published under Q235848 SYMPTOMS
When you try to insert a clip art image into a document or presentation, you receive the following error message
The file Image_name is stored on a disc called CD_Name. Please insert this disc.
where Image_name is the actual file name of the image you selected, and CD_Name is 'O9PRMCD02', the second CD-ROM in the Office 2000 set.
You can click Retry, Look Elsewhere, or Cancel.
CAUSE
To minimize the amount of hard disk space that Microsoft Office 2000 occupies, the majority of clip art images included with Office are, by default, not installed on your hard disk during the installation process. When you attempt to insert a clip art image that is not installed on your hard disk, you are prompted to insert the CD-ROM on which the clip art image is located.
RESOLUTION
To work around this issue, use either of the following methods.
Method 1
When you are prompted, insert the Office CD2 CD-ROM, and then click Retry.
Method 2
Install all of the clip art files from the CD2 CD-ROM onto the hard disk.
The following table shows the approximate hard disk space (in megabytes) needed to install the entire collection of Office 2000 clip art on your hard disk. |
Office Standard | 450 | 3 MB | Office Professional or
Small Business Edition | 16,800 | 270 MB | Office Premium or
Developer | 17,600 | 490 MB |
To install the remaining clip art from the CD2 CD-ROM, follow these steps:
- Quit all the programs that are open.
- Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
- In Control Panel, double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.
- In the Add/Remove Programs Properties dialog box, click your Microsoft Office 2000 Disc 2 installation, and then click Add/Remove.
- In the Microsoft Office 2000 Maintenance Mode dialog box, click Add or Remove Features.
- Expand Office Tools.
- Expand Clip Gallery.
- Click the Clip Files icon.
- On the shortcut menu, click Run All from My Computer.
- Click Update Now, and allow Office 2000 Setup to install the components to your computer.
After the clip art files are installed, you are no longer prompted to insert the second Office 2000 CD-ROM.
If all of the clip art is already installed to the computer and the problem persists, follow these steps:
- Quit all the programs that are open.
- Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
- In Control Panel, double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.
- In the Add/Remove Programs Properties dialog box, click your Microsoft Office 2000 installation, and then click Add/Remove.
- In the Microsoft Office 2000 Maintenance Mode dialog box, click Add/Remove.
- Under Microsoft Tools, set the Clip Gallery icon to Not Available.
- Click Install Now.
- After Office Setup is finished, restart your computer.
- After your computer restarts, repeat steps 2 through 6, except choose Run from My Computer in step 6.
- Click Install Now.
