SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to link or import data to Microsoft MapPoint 2000, you may receive the following error message:

There was a problem opening: file name. Too many fields defined.

This behavior can occur if you link or import data from a database or spreadsheet that contains more than 61 columns of data.

To prevent this issue from occurring, link or import data from a database or spreadsheet that contains a maximum of 61 columns of data.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft MapPoint 2000.
