Some Internet service providers (ISPs) use error code 552 as their "this recipient is over quota" message. Therefore, when an ISP receives a message from an SP4 Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) server (acting as a client), an attack on their server occurs.
RESOLUTIONMCIS 1.0A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. To resolve this problem, contact Microsoft Product Support Services to obtain the hotfix.
