OFF2000: Error Message Using Transform Created from Different .msi File (235067)

SYMPTOMS

When you click Next in the Open the MST File dialog box of the Custom Installation Wizard (CIW), you may receive the following error message:
The MST file does not correspond to the MSI file.

CAUSE

You will receive this error if all of the following are true:
  • You open an existing transform (MST) in the CIW. -and-

  • You created the transform with one version of Office, for example, Office Standard. -and-

  • In the CIW, you use an .msi file from a different version of Office, for example, Office Premium.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, follow these steps:

  1. Click OK to the error message.
  2. Click Back in the Open the MST File dialog box.
  3. In the Open the MSI File dialog box, select the .msi file from the version of Office you used to create your transform. If you click the Name and path of MSI file to open in the Open the MSI File dialog box, you see a listing of all the .msi files that you have previously used in the CIW.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Click Open an existing MST file in the Open the MST File dialog box.
  6. Select your transform, and click Next.

To determine which version of Office was used to create your transform, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, point to Programs, and click Windows Explorer.
  2. Locate your transform in Windows Explorer.
  3. Right-click the transform file and click Properties on the shortcut menu.
  4. Click the Summary tab. The Subject field will display the version of Office that was used to create the transform.
