OL98: ESC Key Does Not Close Outlook Item (235033)

SYMPTOMS

When you press the ESC key to close an open Outlook item, such as a mail message or contact, it does not close.

CAUSE

You clicked Customize on the Tools menu after opening the Outlook item, and then pressed ESC to close the Customize dialog box.

RESOLUTION

Click Close in the Customize dialog box. You can then press ESC to close the open item.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

This only occurs when you try to close a message using Esc after opening the Customize window and then using Esc to close the Customize window.
