File Manager Toolbar Settings Are Not Retained (234566)

SYMPTOMS

After you upgrade from Internet Explorer 4.x to Internet Explorer 5, toolbar settings and customization you saved in File Manager are no longer present.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the version of the Comctl32.dll file included with Internet Explorer 5 modifies the way that toolbars are restored, and File Manager toolbars are not restored properly with this file.

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, use Windows Explorer instead of File Manager.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.
