FIX: OLAP:DSO Role Update May Return "Key Already Associated" Error or Cause System Hang (234516)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft SQL Server OLAP Services 7.0
This article was previously published under Q234516
BUG #: 1351 (PLATO7X)
SYMPTOMS
When using the Decision Support Object (DSO) to add members to an OLAP Role, in the released version of SQL Server OLAP Services, the system may hang or return the following error message:
This key is already associated with an element of this collection.
This error can appear when adding members to an existing role with a large number of members or when adding a large number of members to a new role or an existing role. The error typically occurs when the number of members in a role approaches 150 or more.
WORKAROUND
Roles with a large number of members could be broken into smaller groups with a role defined for each group. Each group can then be assigned the same access rights to the cube, accomplishing the same security result as the larger role, but avoiding the error listed in the SYMPTOMS section.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in SQL Server
OLAP Services version 7.0. This problem has been corrected in U.S. Service Pack 1
for Microsoft SQL Server OLAP Services version 7.0. For information about
how to download and install the latest SQL Server OLAP Services Service Pack, see the
